The Old Catton Society was founded in 1984 following the designation of a Conservation Area for the village centre.

The aim of the Old Catton Society is to secure the preservation and protection of the village environment, especially through the monitoring of development proposals.

Today, the Society holds an extensive archive of material relating to Old Catton.  This archive includes:

Over 600 catalogued photographs of village scenes and life - old and new.

A "doomsday" photographic record of the entire village in 2000.

Miscellaneous press cuttings.

Dr Goulty's transcription of the Parish Registers 1688 to 1841.

Transcriptions of the 1841, 1851 and 1861 censuses.

Ordinance Survey 1/2500 scale maps of various dates from 1844.

The archive is available for researchers of family or local history and it can be inspected by arranging an appointment with the Old Catton Society Archivist.
