Thursday 17th January -
Buffet & Entertainment
Our first meeting of the
year was our annual party attended by a full house of 60
of our members.
Once again the food was
organised by the committee under the leadership of Pat
Clarke. A buffet consisting of a wide variety of
savouries and mouth watering puddings was provided
complemented by a selection of drinks, both alcoholic
and non-alcoholic for those having to take the wheel.
Following the meal Barry
Leggett took over as master of ceremonies and introduced
Ken Tickle who entertained us with a selection of folk
songs, accompanying himself at times on his accordion.
The audience, who had been issued with song sheets, were
able to join in the choruses. After a short interval,
during which the raffle was drawn and the answers to the
table top quiz were revealed, Ken continued with his
singing and playing to bring the evening to it’s
conclusion.
Our thanks to all members
who supplied prizes for the raffle and to all those, too
numerous to mention by name, who worked hard in advance
and on the night itself to make the evening a great
success.
Our next meeting is on
Thursday 20th. March when Dr. Ian Clarke will give a
talk “Trekking in the Himalayas - Part 2”.
